I’m gonna let you in on a secret, sis.
All copy is a conversation.
When creating a piece of content, it’s important to join the conversation already taking place in your reader’s mind. Find out what they’re already thinking and communicate it in a way that resonates.
There are so many different elements to consider when it comes to creating compelling copy that converts, but brand voice is the one I want you to focus on for now.
Nailing your brand voice is crucial because your audience is waiting to hear from YOU, not just a watered-down version of everyone else.
The beauty industry may look oversaturated and like you can’t succeed, but that’s simply not true. However, it IS overly crowded with brands that are all knock-offs of another larger, more popular brand.
They try to sound and look the same, but their audience isn’t buying it.
So what are you supposed to do to uniquely communicate effectively with your audience through your brand voice? Well, let me break it all down for you!
It’s simply the way you talk to your audience.
People invest more when there’s an emotional connection with your brand. It’s not just about what you say, but also how you say it.
Your brand voice should sound like YOU. It is the unique expression of you and your brand through words.
Two major parts of your brand voice are tone and vocabulary.
Your tone puts your personality on display and evokes emotion from the reader.
The tone of your copy can vary some, depending on your particular message and the emotion you’re trying to pull from your audience.
For example, your tone when you’re talking about a serious issue would not be the same as your tone when you’re promoting a new product of yours!
Vocabulary, of course, is all about the words you choose
While tone varies, vocabulary should be used with a little more consistency.
Your audience should be familiar with the words you like to use to the point that they can pretty much tell it’s YOU without having to glance at the sender.
The language and words you use should be familiar to both you and your audience. This creates a deeper level of understanding and connection from your potential customers.
Trust that savvy shoppers can sense a fake from a mile away…
…so consistently using your brand voice and making sure your personality shines through is key.
We all admire and obsess over brands we love and even dream of creating and owning a brand with comparable status. But it’s sooo important to stay inspired without crossing the line into imitation (or even just straight-up stealing).
This important part of your experience guarantees that you end up with a unique presence in your own lane, building a community of loyal customers who can’t get enough!
